Diese Vorlesung wird sich mit modernen Monte-Carlo Methoden beschäftigen, wie sie in der Physik verwendet werden. Inhalt ist unter anderem:

  • Statistical Models, Likelihood, Bayesian and Bootstrap Methods
  • Random Variable Generation
  • Monte-Carlo Methods
  • Markov-Chain Monte-Carlo
  • application of these methods to lattice field theory

Die Vorlesung findet immer Mittwochs um 10 Uhr c.t. in Seminarraum II am HISKP statt. Die Vorlesung wird in englischer Sprache gehalten.

 

Zum Bestehen des Moduls müssen die teilnehmenden Studenten selbständig ein kleines Projekt bearbeiten und vorstellen. Die Projekte werden Modell-Probleme aus der Feldtheorie oder der statistischen Physik behandeln. Bei der Bearbeitung können die neu erlernten Methoden in der Praxis angewendet werden. Projekt-Themen werden noch bekannt gegeben.
