Higher partial waves in a finite volume
Sebastian König (Bonn)
When a bound state is put in a finite volume (with periodic boundary conditions), its mass (energy) is shifted compared to the infinite-volume solution. In a paper from the eighties [1], Lüscher derived an explicit formula for the mass shift of nonrelativistic two-body S-wave bound states in a cubic box. After a review of Lüscher's original derivation, I will discuss its extension to bound states with higher orbital angular momentum and present some results.
