Efimov physics in ultracold gases

Kerstin Helfrich (Bonn)

The Efimov effect was already predicted in 1970 by V. Efimov but was seen in ultracold quantum gases only 35 years later.  Since then, there has been renewed experimental and theoretical interest in the subject.  In this talk, I want to give a short introduction to Efimov physics and report on some of the recent achievements.  These include the calculation of observables in our effective field theory framework for heteronuclear as well as for two-dimensional systems exhibiting universal behaviour.
