Excited states and hadron resonances from Lattice QCD

A selective review of recent progress in lattice QCD calculations of excited states and QCD resonances is presented. The challenges of extracting excited state energy levels and of their interpretation will be discussed, using data from recent simulations as examples. Emphasis will be placed on simulations that explicitly include multi-particle (meson-meson and meson-baryon) states in channels with either a low-lying QCD resonance or with a bound state close to threshold.
