An introduction to B physics and soft-collinear effective theory

Wei Wang (Bonn)

The rich phenomenology of B meson weak decays has always been a source of information about the nature of elementary particle interactions.  The successful operation of the B factories and the LHC allows us to precisely test the standard model via B physics.  The dynamics of B decays are multiscale problems in nature, and the separation of the short-distance and long-distance parts will be achieved by a factorization approach.  An overview of the current status of B physics will be presented in this talk.  Then I will talk about the application of the soft-collinear effective theory (SCET) to B weak decays.
