Determination of the pion-nucleon coupling constant via the Goldberger-Miyazawa-Oehme sum rule

The Goldberger-Miyazawa-Oehme sum rule relates the pi N coupling constant to a combination of scattering lengths and an integral over cross sections. I will present a detailed derivation of this sum rule using fixed-t dispersion relations. As an application, the consequences of our recent determination of the pi N scattering lengths from hadronic atoms for the pion-nucleon coupling constant will be discussed.
