The strong interactions from lowest to highest energies

Rainer Sommer (DESY Zeuthen)

Most theory predictions in Particle Physics are derived from expansions in coupling "constants".  We discuss what these couplings are and how one arrives, in particular, at a precision determination of of the QCD coupling at high energies, αs(mZ).  It can be used for physics at the Large Hadron Collider, the investigation of the stability of the vacuum, etc.  Since we use non-perturbative QCD, the continuum limit of the lattice theory, to connect low energy input to αs(mZ), we also provide a precision confirmation that QCD describes the strong interactions at all energies.
