Flavour as a Window to the Physics beyond the Standard Model

The role of flavour physics as a test of the standard model and its potential for the discovery of new effects is discussed. A short summary of the theoretical toolbox for reliable calculations is given and the current status of the flavor-based test of the Standard Model is shown.
