MOFs as quantum sieves for hydrogen isotope separation
Quantum sieving in nanopores is one promising route to separate light isotopes efficiently and effectively. Especially, the novel class of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) is considered as promising sieving material due to the crystalline structure in combination with ultra-high porosity and uniform pore size. Experimental results, obtained by low-pressure high-resolution adsorption isotherms and cryogenic thermal desorption spectroscopy (TDS) directly on isotope mixtures, will be presented for different MOF structures.
